What happens when a songwriter invites innocent bystanders on the streets of Edinburgh to share their darkest, most embarrassing secrets?
They end up as COMEDY SONGS in his CONFESSIONAL MUSIC BOX!

Hugely relatable, Tom Veck brings charm and warmth to his show, where domestic ditties mingle with stories from his peculiar past and the confessions of strangers.

With SELL OUT SHOWS,  5* REVIEWS  and a nomination for ‘Best Newcomer’ by The Space Uk last year, this is truly an act not to be missed!

It’s songs in the key of strife! And you just might win a prize in the Naffle - the world’s naffest raffle!

"So Funny, silly and relatable! I'm still enjoying the show 2 days later! - Eleanor, Frome

"His songs are brilliant, the 3 minute songwriting was genius and the Naffle (comedy raffle) is just bonkers. I never win anything but I left the show with a small ceramic pig sitting on a toilet! I actually love it." - Phil, Glastonbury

THE SONGS

Tom Veck's songs are hugely relatable, cleverly crafted ear worms which will have you laughing at him, yourself and the world!

But it's not just Tom who will be sharing his dark secrets, embarrassing memories and secret fantasies. He's writing part of tonights set TODAY, as innocent bystanders reveal their not-so innocent stories to be instantly transformed into comedy songs!

Here's a few of Tom's which may or may not be performed in his Edinburgh show:

THE NAFFLE!

You know those items at a car boot sale which nobody in their right mind would ever actually buy... Well somebody did, and he's giving them all away in his free comedy raffle 'The Naffle'. It could be YOU!!!

THE SONGAMETHINGY

THE WORLDS FIRST FULLY AUTOMATED, HALF HUMAN - HALF MACHINE SONG WRITING THING!

At last year's Fringe, Tom used this mind blowing device to write over 77 songs in one week. This year, he's taken the best of those songs and done something very special...

THE CONFESSIONAL MUSIC BOX

Inside the flashing, smoke-filled confessional music box 40+ wooden avatars lay in wait.

Each represents someone who shared a comedic confession or embarassing memory with Tom last year and each one has it's own 1 minute comedy song!

As part of Toms's 2024 show, the audience will select these painted wooden people from the box and get to know their darkest secrets through the medium of song!

Full Edinburgh Fringe Reviews 2023 & 2024

Stuffed-full of laugh-out-loud moments, Tom’s songs combine surreal flights of fancy with totally relatable realism. Be in with the chance of winning (possibly) valuable prizes in the raffle. Earlier in the day complete strangers will have volunteered to tell Tom their darkest secrets so that he can turn them into a song to be played at the show, which offers a rare victimless opportunity to laugh at someone else’s expense. And who doesn’t enjoy that?

I really can’t imagine anyone not enjoying an hour in Tom’s world. Tom has been nominated in the Best Newcomer category of the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. Go see him now while he is still languishing in obscurity.

Insightful with a dash of darkness

Tom Veck takes us on a hilarious musical tour of the wonders and disappointments of the world, via songs inspired by his own life and those of forty random strangers found at last year’s Fringe. Other highlights include the naffle (in which I sadly did not win either the Liberace Christmas album or the sad porcelain clown clutching a love heart) and the opportunity to guess the function of random objects found at a car boot sale.

Veck has a warm, easy manner and a surprisingly good singing voice, both of which help balance the occasionally unpleasant confessionals plucked from his magic box. However, its when he is indulging in more benign, or uplifting, subject matter such as the collected favourite jokes of a group of four year olds, or his ecstatic joy in finding a Spice Girls tin full of Moshi Monsters in the bin behind a charity shop, that he is at his best. If you like your comedy gently insightful with a dash of darkness, I would definitely recommend this show. Even if I am still slightly bitter about losing out on the naffle.

Truly Funny Songs

- Moreish TV, Edinburgh Fringe 2024

Tom is an absolute joy to watch, performing a set of brilliantly funny songs about the oddities of everyday life and the quirks of the people in it. He even includes a “Naffle” – a quirky raffle where audience members can win unusual and surprising prizes with their entry ticket. The show is full of laughter, unexpected moments, and even a light-up disco box that adds to the fun. We won’t spoil the surprises, but honestly – oh, what the Veck? Don’t miss it. Definitely one to see.

Huge Amounts of Fun

- Theatre & Arts review Edinburgh Fringe 2023

Professional musician Tom Veck’s What the Veck is a sharp and original one-man musical comedy exploring life, current affairs, and the odd things people throw away. A self-confessed “skip jumper,” Veck turns his knack for finding hidden gems—both literal and human—into a warm, funny, and unpredictable show. With songs, stories, and audience banter, he invites everyone into his world, even running his trademark “Naffle,” a raffle of bizarre and brilliant prizes. Clever, engaging, and full of heart, What the Veck is a great festival find.   https://theatreandartreviews.com/2023/08/25/what-the-veck-by-tom-veck/

AUDIENCE REVIEWS 2023

Barbara Gonzalez

Everybody needs to see this show!! Tom’s songs had me giggling and laughing out loud for their silly relatable-ness. There’s candour and warmth and the whole show is a celebration of the quirkiness of our shared humanity. And there was a random raffle thrown in too! What the veck? we loved this- go see it!

Jenny Collins

Hilariously silly and wonderful show (the only one in the Fringe to feature a naffle, I'm sure). Tom Veck is a kind of mix between Kurt Cobain and Harry Hill (well, ish). Hugely talented and very funny. Highly recommend!

Lily Hunter

Absolutely hilarious! I came with a group of friends and we all left in tears of laughter. Tom even took in one of my embarrassing stories and is turning it into a song. If there’s one comedy/music performance to see at the fringe….it’s this!

Matt Smith

Tom's songs had me laughing so much my sides hurt!

Each song is finely tuned and will be relatable to any audience that are lucky enough to see his show...get your naffle tickets ready! NOT TO BE MISSED!

Jon R

Weepingly and retchingly funny. How one person extracts such material from members of the public is beyond me, and thats before he starts on his own stories. Engaging, light-hearted, accomplished - a fabulous talent to be discovered.

Juliette Bevis

The most fun you will have at the Fringe! Tom's witty and insightful songs had the audience roaring with laughter. What's more, if you are lucky enough to meet Tom on the Mile with his songamathingy, he might write a song for and include it in his show. This show is an absolute gem, get a ticket, you won't regret it!

Rob Veck

Well, of course this will be a somewhat bias review being Tom’s dad, but he only went and wrote a song about me reluctantly sharing a pudding with “she who must be obeyed” - pretty much true as well

Paul Callaghan

Creative improve songs that make you cry laughing.
