Mindfulness For Wellbeing
6 week introductory course materials

Week 1

This week's meditations

Your meditation journey starts now! Use one of the two meditations below every day this week. It can be helpful to meditate at the same time and in the same place every day.

During this course, commitment and perseverence will be needed to create this positive daily habit and answer the question: 'what happens to my mental, emotional and physical state if I meditate every day for 6 weeks?'

'Better Than Nothing'
Meditations

To really experience the benefits of meditation we need to cultivate a reliable daily practice. At first this can be a challenge.

Studies show that when creating positive habits, doing 'something' is massively better than doing 'nothing.' If you get to the end of a day and haven't achieved what you set out to, doing a token amount instead continues the formation of the neural pathways needed for long term success.

The following meditations can be used during this stage of your meditation journey.

5 minutes

Keep your habit forming on track.

Better than nothing 5 min

This week's mindful activity

Brushing teeth.

As well as having a daily meditation practice, we will be bringing more and more mindful activities into our daily lives throughout the duration of this course. You can start this by bringing mindful focus to the brushing of your teeth. There is more guidance on this below.

This Week's videos

Each week there will be a short video or two for you to watch which supports what we've been learning in the session. The videos often feature Jon Kabat Zinn, one of the main people responsible for bringing these practices to the West.

Misconceptions and Q&A

This is an optional section where I will address commonly asked questions and misconceptions.
